SAAB SEAEYE - WORLD LEADER IN HYDRO INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS
Benefits of underwater vehicle technology

Thousands of dams and tunnels around the world are of aged construction and built to standards that have since been superseded.

All must cope with increased loads from a growing demand worldwide and from the effect of natural disasters.

Defects, corrosion and obstructions can be accurately pinpointed using the intelligent systems architecture and integrated navigation aboard an underwater vehicle to film, record, measure and profile points of interest.

Debris build-up can also be removed where possible.
Diver safety
Underwater vehicles can reduce the risk and cost of diver operations. They can undertake tasks too dangerous for a diver, and go places divers cannot, such as penstock pipes, tunnels and turbine inlets - whilst in operation.

Where diver intervention is necessary, buddying with an ROV improves safety by previewing the point of interest before the dive, taking down a safety line and overseeing the diver during the mission.

World demand for hydro resources is growing and much of the existing infrastructure needs serious attention.

The hydro industry is securing its resources through increased inspection of structural integrity and the mechanical operation of its dams and tunnels.

Underwater vehicles can identify defects, monitor changes in condition and help maintenance planning.

Saab Seaeye leads the hydro market in underwater vehicle technology with advanced imaging and filming technology matched to precise manoeuvrability and power for working at complex tasks in difficult conditions for long periods.
