Underwater vehicles can reduce the risk and cost of diver operations. They can undertake tasks too dangerous for a diver, and go places divers cannot, such as penstock pipes, tunnels and turbine inlets - whilst in operation.
Where diver intervention is necessary, buddying with an ROV improves safety by previewing the point of interest before the dive, taking down a safety line and overseeing the diver during the mission.
