Saab Debuts Electric Manipulator at Oceanology International

Oceanology International saw the first public display of the Seaeye eM1-7 electric manipulator, which drew crowds the entire week.

Robert Dewell, Integration Engineer at Saab UK for underwater systems, was interviewed by Marine Technology Reporter at the event. He discussed the technical specifications of the manipulator, as well as exploring the debate of hydraulic vs electric – outlining the positive environmental impact that electric alternatives provide.

“If you’re going for the hydraulic arms there’s the obvious side of the environmental impact, if there’s any leakages or anything like that. We don’t have those problems.”
