Seaeye Puma

Seaeye Puma is depth rated to 1000 metres
and provides an exceptional and versatile performance envelope.
Two PUMA versions are available. For optimum video capability,
three simultaneous video channels are provided via two, dual
fibre optic video multiplexers. As a lower cost option, two
simultaneous video channels with a third switched television
camera can be provided with video transmission via twisted
screened pairs, (STP).
Six Seaeye SM4M thrusters, providing additional
vertical dynamic lift, power PUMA. PUMA also provides
a larger payload than other vehicles of this size, two individually
controlled lighting channels, a pan and tilt unit with position
feedback of camera angles, an optional tooling skid and greater
interface capability for tools and sensors as well as the
additional camera capability and fibre optic option. These
enhancements are highlighted in italics in this Investment
Guide.
A basic ROV system comprises the Surface Power
Supply Unit, Surface Control Unit, Hand Controller, and Vehicle
unit. The Surface Unit and PSU can be supplied free standing
or containerised. This Control Container can be Zone
II rated or rated for safe area operations and can be air-conditioned.
Free swimming operations are possible with up
to 350 metres of umbilical. For operations with tether lengths
greater than 350 metres it is necessary to use the Seaeye
Puma Tether Management System (TMS). The TMS is a garage
with a bale arm system with a 200 metre tether cable capacity.
A skid mounted 'A' frame and lifting winch with
1100 metres of armoured lift umbilical is offered as a compact
combined unit to launch and recover a TMS garaged Seaeye Puma.
This can be offered rated for hazardous area Zone II operations
or to A60 standard for 'safe area' operations and is known
as a 'LARS' or Launch and Recovery System. Alternatively
you may have your own crane available and may only require
the lifting winch and armoured umbilical with an umbilical
sheave and a lock-latch release mechanism and vehicle bullet
for launch and recovery.

Propulsion
PUMA is propelled by six highly efficient SEAEYE SM4M
brushless DC thrusters. Thruster configuration is four vectored
horizontal and two vertical units, providing full three dimensional
control
Chassis
A 100% modular chassis manufactured in polypropylene. The
extremely rugged chassis is totally maintenance free, non
corroding and self supporting in seawater. Additional equipment
can be bolted directly to chassis members.
Pressure Housings
All pressure housings are machined from 6082 marine grade
aluminium and hard anodised black. The electronics pod has
water ingress and vacuum alarms fitted.
Connectors
SEAEYE range of 316 stainless steel connectors are generally
used throughout.
Buoyancy
Syntactic foam. A single moulded buoyancy block with apertures
for sonar and a tracking transponder or responder.
Control System
16 bit digital system providing easy interfacing to ancillary
equipment by the operator. The SEAEYE comprehensive video
overlay is fitted as standard providing digital and analogue
compass rose, tilt icon, date time group, depth (metric or
imperial), CP value ,pre-titled and free text pages. Vehicle
data may be exported to clients Survey or Navigation computer
systems via the SEAEYE Telemetry Interface Unit in conjunction
with a PC.
Navigation
Sensitive flux-gate compass unit with solid state rate
sensor for enhanced azimuth stability.

Depth Sensor
Electronic unit in its own separate housing. Accuracy ± 0.1%
of fsd.
Auto-pilot
Full automatic pilot is provided for depth and heading.
Pan & Tilt System
SEAEYE Pan & Tilt unit with positional feedback (displayed
on the video overlay) is fitted as standard.
Lighting
Two separately controlled lighting channels. Each channel
has two fused SEAEYE 150W lamp units. Lamp units can be distributed
individually to suit local operating conditions.
Video System
Three simultaneous video channels. One channel has a focus/zoom
camera facility. Transmission to the surface is via two dual
fibre-optic multiplexers and two fibre optic cores. Two dual
fibre-optic de-multiplexers are situated in the Surface Junction
Box (supplied) in the ROV control cabin. SEAEYE CCD colour
camera is fitted as standard. Two 14 inch colour monitors
are also provided.
Surface Control Unit
Contains all vehicle system surface control electronics,
TMS control and surface outlets for ancillary equipment. This
unit is 19" rack mountable. Supplied in a sealed (when closed)
steel enclosure.

Hand Controller and Surface Control Unit
Hand Control Unit
A small remote hand control unit containing all system
controls. Unit is supplied on a 5m lead.
Surface Power Supply Unit
Supplies all power requirements for the vehicle system. Line
Insulation Monitors (LIMS) are fitted to both AC and DC power
components for safety and monitoring purposes. Requires 3
phase AC input of between 380vac and 480vac at 12.5kva.

Power Supply Unit
Tether Management System
Rugged all steel, side entry system using tether cable bailing
arm technique (eliminates underwater sliprings). The vehicle
is secured within the T.M.S. by a hydrostatic device for launch
and recovery. The vehicle can be easily manoeuvred into the
T.M.S. either forwards or backwards. Tether cable capacity
is 200 metres.
